On Sunday we were enjoying testimony meeting when suddenly, out of corner of my eye, i saw a familiar tiny body bounding up the aisle toward the pulpit. “William!” I whispered. Too late. He was full steam ahead with a look in his eye that I recognized.. he was going to bear his testimony.
•back story-Will has been talking about bearing his testimony every every week for MONTHS now. He has always been fascinated by this meeting and even practices at home on his little microphone•
My heart nearly jumped out of my chest seeing him march up to the front and I scrambled out of our pew to follow him. I arrived just in time to help hold him up to the mic (even those little kid benches aren’t meant for barely 3-year olds). He took a deep breath and started, “hello”, (wayyyy too close to the mic😬). The congregation chuckled warmly and Will’s cool confidence melted into an expression of pure embarrassment. Immediately William withdrew. “Mom”, he whispered “they’re laughing at me”. I quickly explained they just thought he was cute. He cleared his throat and bravely tried again, “hello”. Again the crowd giggled to themselves (how could you not!? 😍😂). And again a mortified look crossed his little face and he covered his face with his hands.
I ended up bearing my testimony for Will and tried to say all the things he wanted. When we were almost back to our seats the tears started to flow. Poor Will was so overcome with disappointment he just started bawling, “please can we go back mommy” “I didn’t get to say what I wanted” “I just want to bear my testimony about Jesus”😭.
As I held him crying in the foyer I soon had empathy tears in my own eyes as I tried to explain what had just happened and console his hurt feelings. Sweet Will... I was so proud of his efforts and how brave he was💛 He never ceases to amaze me.

“Hello. I know Jesus loves me and I love him too. He was a pretty powerful guy and could even help people who were blind. He decorated the earth with a whole bunch of things like elephants and trees and stuff. And when I choose the right I get a warm feeling in my tummy. Name of Jesus Christ-amen”.
