TIME

Today I tried to take a picture of the planner Mike gave me for my birthday so I could show him I was putting it to good use. BUT my fingers kept getting tangled and the planner kept slipping. In my mind I found my self saying "stop slipping silly 2014....sit still 2014.....quit trying to get away from me 2014". As I flipped through the past pages and planned out the rest of my semester I realized how true these "self-talk" words were. TIME...you sneaky devil you. Where have you gone? Where are you going? Stop slipping away. Sit still ! Quit trying to get away from me !!!

TIME is a funny, fickle sort of fellow. When you are ready for him to speed up he slows to a halt...yet when you want him to freeze he flights away. This semester is going by so fast I can hardly believe it. Every week I have the mindset: "okay....Monday. We can do it..only ____ more days until Friday" "okay....Tuesday. We can do it..only____more days until Friday" etc. etc. etc. Until Friday when I think: "wow, it's Friday Hallelujah! Man...where did my week go? What happened? did I breath? did I take any breaks? did I make anyone happy this week? did I see anyone this week? it all went so fast. it all was a blur". . . such is my Friday ritual of regret.

Elder Uchtdorf said, "Sometimes in life we become so focused on the finish line that we fail to find joy in the journey." Boy am I guilty of that! I am a MEGA-planner (in case you couldn't tell ha) so I always have a finish line I am racing toward and totally focused on. Now, don't get me wrong, goals are awesome and essential if you are going to sail rather than float through life. BUT we can get so caught up in the ultimate 'end goal' that we miss all the beauty that was around us the whole ride there.

I am determined people (as I always am after I have one of these self-reflective epiphanies) to enjoy the journey. TIME...you don't scare me. In fact, I rather like you! Why don't you stay a while...come in....let me enjoy every last bit of your company.
