Telling the Mackays

Telling the MacKays:

As excited as I was about the news that I was pregnant, I knew my family was going to FLIP when they found out! Little BabyD will be the first grandkid on the my side of the family and my parents are SO excited to be grandparents!! They always hinted and we always hinted back that it was going to be years so prepare for the long haul. We were so sneaky and it was the BEST surprise:) Originally we were going to wait until mother's day to give my mom a present, but I was already starting to get sick so we figured the earlier we tell the fam. the better. I was nervous at first because of the high risk of miscarriage during those first few months, but I decided that I would rather them know so if something did go wrong we would have lots of family support. In the end, I'm glad I did!

On Easter Sunday we came over to watch conference and have dinner. We had planned to announce after the first session, but we wanted my grandparents to be there too. We ended up waiting forever for my grandparents to show up (there was a miscommunication for the time they were to arrive). When we found out my grandparents were going to arrive later that night, my mom organized a fun easter egg hunt. Finally I couldn't wait any longer and the next session of conference was about to begin. After the hunt I said, "mom we got you a present for easter." (random I know, she was caught totally off guard). It was wrapped in a Tiffany's box so both my mom and dad were confused. My mom opened the box as my dad watched over her shoulder and boom the tears started to flow--it was so tender:) They were both so excited and asked all sorts of questions.
They are going to be the best grandparents and I cannot wait! My cute brothers were excited too--they are going to be uncles!
everything looks better wrapped in Tiffany blue:)

I had this onesie made from a cute lady on Etsy. She was fast and we got it just in time!
the new soon-to-be grandparents!!

blurry photo, but still captures the excitement:)
I went way over the top, but I was just too giddy with excitement:) I made little easter eggs with mini m&m's (our family nickname is m&m.....get it meg & mike are having a mini? we thought it was clever:) Inside each egg was a little note that read: "We are 'EGG'specting! Mini m&m hatching this December." When my grandparents arrived we gave them each an egg to open--they were also very surprised! Especially since I always told my grandma I wasn't going to have a baby until I was 27 :) These two are going to be the best great-grandparents and I'm so glad babyD will get to know them so well!

Chelsa was in Fiji during this time, so we all waited until she got home to break the news to her. As soon as she got off the plane I handed her a "welcome home" present (or so she thought). It took her a minute to get the message of the shirt, but once she did she burst into tears. It was so cute! She kept saying "are you serious?" and "about time, I've been waiting for 3 years!" Chels has been SO excited to be an aunt and I can't wait for her to meet our little man.

I also had this tee made on Etsy:) it's actually super comfy and she wears it all the time!
