Easter 2016

Happy Easter!!

I love the message of hope that Easter brings...a newness... a fresh start! I feel lighter when Easter rolls around. Brighter. I think it is so fitting that we celebrate it around springtime (whelp...besides the second winter we are experiencing now!) all the flowers are starting to bloom and the animals are having their babies--symbolic of new life...and eternal life through Jesus Christ. I love Easter. I love the meaning behind it and the opportunity to celebrate the living Christ. I always look forward to the Easter video put out by the church--it is awesome! If you haven't had a chance to check it out, here it is: Easter Message I am so thankful for the Savior, for His atonement. Because of Him I can live with my family forever. How great is that!?

Easter was so fun to celebrate with baby Will! Last Easter we announced to our families that we were expecting (Telling the MacKays...Telling the Derricks) and this year....we have another family member! wild.  Saturday we spent the day with the MacKay's. My parents held an Easter egg hunt for the "kids" (my siblings and I...even though we are all teens/adults it was so fun!) I can't wait until next year when William can join in the fun. This year he napped right through it :) Later that night I went to the General Women's Broadcast with my mom, grandma, and sister. Mike took William to his first "guys night" so we could enjoy the broadcast. It was awesome! One thing that really stood out to me was the metaphor of looking in the mirror vs. looking through the window. Sometimes I get so caught up in all the craziness of my own life I forget to really look out.  The next day, Sunday, we spent with the Derricks. I held choir practice in the morning, then we went to church and had dinner after. Poor Williebear was having a rough time at church (curse you 1pm!! nap time. ugh) so we only were able to stay for Sacrament meeting. For dinner, Mike totally outdid himself. He cooked lamb! I usually loath lamb, so I was not looking forward to it at all... but it was actually really good! and beautiful, of course:)

I am so glad I insisted on taking family pictures before we changed out of our Sunday clothes. Growing up I LOVED getting an Easter dress for church. SO, I decided to start the tradition with my own family. I got an Easter dress, William got an Easter outfit, and Mike got an Easter tie. It may seem like a silly little thing... but I was so excited to get all ready and wear them to church. I love this little family of mine
Behold...Michaels lamb creation!
Is there anything cuter than baby sneezes!?
we were all pooped after the Easter festivities!
